Laboratory Section Three laboratory sections are needed to meet the heavy student demand for this course. Each laboratory section does the same work. The lab portion of the course is divided into three units: the plankton (see Plankton), the macroinvertebrates (see Macroinvertebrates, and the fish. Each unit includes one or more lectures, a field trip to collect biological specimens (see Field Trips), laboratory study of the collected specimens, and a lab practical exam. We
will be using chemical reagents in the lab that may react adversely with your
clothing should you spill on yourself. Therefore,
wear "casual" clothes to the lab.
On field days, you'll need foot wear that can get wet, rain gear, and
possibly sunscreen. A magnifying
glass and a pocket knife often come in handy. |
