-very large (up to 2 mm), predatory rotifer; foot often absent; the specimen in this image in oriented with the mouth facing downwards

Filinia spp.

-long spines are used to jump rapidly to avoid predation

-are important algal grazers; cannot jump to avoid predators but can increase its speed 3.5x; preyed upon by Daphnia

Polyarthra spp.

-paddle-like appendages are used to make rapid jumps to avoid predators

Ptygura spp.

-sessile rotifer; has transparent mucous sheath that may make them less vulnerable to invertebrate predators but transparent to fish

-body twisted as a partial helix, asymetrical trophi
